Calxa Releases Calxa Premier Signalling New Era in Budgeting and Cashflow Management

Mick Devine Elected Treasurer of North Queensland Branch of Australian Computer Society

Calxa CEO, Mick Devine, was elected Treasurer of the local branch of the Australian Computer Society (ACS). The branch covers a large area of North Queensland including the major centres of Townsville, Cairns and Mackay. The ACS is the recognised association for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) professionals, attracting a large and active membership from all levels of the ICT industry. A member of the Australian Council of Professions, the ACS is the public voice of the ICT profession and the guardian of professional ethics and standards in the ICT industry, with a commitment to the wider community to ensure the beneficial use of ICT.

New Addition to Calxa Team Adds Valuable NFP Experience and Masters Degree in Business Administration

Ellen Conner joins Calxa bringing more than 12 years experience in the not-for-profit sector and an MBA from the University of Western Australia. Initially, Ellen will focus on boosting administration across the company and streamlining customer service – particularly with our NFP customers. Ellen currently serves on the Volunteering North Queensland Management Committee and in the past has worked for Volunteering WA and Pacific Marine Group. Originally from Maine, USA, Ellen moved to Townsville from Perth in 2008.

Mick Devine, Calxa CEO, Appointed to James Cook University Industry Advisory Panel

Mick Devine has been appointed to the Industry Advisory Panel for the JCU School of Business, Discipline of Information Technology. The objectives of the panel are to:

  • Advise the Head of School/Head of Discipline on the IT industry’s view of the JCU undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Act as a vehicle for building cooperation and networking activities between the IT industry and the JCU Discipline of IT
  • Advise and support proposed course developments
  • Assist in establishing joint research and consulting activities

Calxa Expands into New Townsville Office

Due to continued growth the Calxa team has moved to new sunny, spacious offices in central Townsville. The move will smooth the way for Calxa’s imminent personnel and product expansion. Plus, most of Calxa employees can now ride to work!

Calxa Training Session One of Most Popular at Queensland MYOB Conference

At the Far North Queensland MYOB Certified Consultant conference, Mick Devine and his team gave the first hands-on training session of Calxa Premier to a group of small business finance  consultants. Ease of use and animation topped the list of features the users were most excited about.

“It was immediately apparent that Calxa is so easy to use by how quickly the users picked it up,” said Mick Devine, Founder and CEO of Calxa. “By creating sample cash flow forecasts and project budgets in a tenth of the time they were used to, the MYOB consultants we worked with could see how much time – and ultimately money – Calxa can save them.”

Calxa Team Takes Software on Australian Tour, Gathering Key Feedback and Insight from Potential Customers

Over the past five weeks the Calxa team has presented its innovative cash flow forecasting and budgeting software to more than 1,500 MYOB Partners in Adelaide, Perth, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne. Calxa conducted focus groups in each city to refine its understanding of the needs of consultants and their clients.

Mick Devine, Founder and CEO, said “What the focus groups helped us achieve was a better understanding of our future customers’ needs. More specifically, we realised that our animation features will be invaluable for our less financially literate customers”.

Calxa will formally launch its products, Calxa Premier and Calxa Express, in July 2010.

Calxa Showcases Animation and Unique Features of Budget and Cash Flow Software at MYOB Conference to Praise and Anticipation

Mick Devine, Calxa Founder and CEO, presented a beta version of Calxa software to the MYOB Certified Consultant Conference in Palm Cove, Queensland. At the session, Mick explained to audience members how Calxa can simplify workloads by creating cash flow forecasts, budgets by job or department, professional and animated reports for their board, identify problems before they occur, and so much more – all in a fraction of the time it used to take to perform the same tasks. Calxa integrates quickly and seamlessly with existing MYOB files.

The presentation was well received and feedback from the conference attendees was positive, with a high level of anticipation for the launch of the software in July 2010.

Calxa Launches with Aim of Helping Not-for-Profits and Small Businesses Simplify their Budgeting and Cash Flow Management; Mick Devine Named CEO

Calxa, creator of a new breed of financial management software, was incorporated today and will soon launch its unique, animation-based cash flow forecasting and budgeting software for the small business and not-for-profit markets. The company is lead by Mick Devine, CEO, who has spent the last eight years developing and selling MoneyManager, a budgeting and cash flow management tool for MYOB users. Mick is working on his Masters in Information Technology at James Cook University, where he focused his studies and thesis on animation  and its use in understanding financial data…

Calxa products, launching in July 2010, will make it easier for small businesses and not-for-profits to manage their finances with simple tools for creating animated, professional and intuitive financial reports, graphs and charts.
