Last night saw the inaugural Australian Not-for-Profit Technology Awards being held in Melbourne. It was the culminating event of the 2016 Connecting Up Conference themed ‘Advance: 2020’ with a focus on moving forward with the use of Technology. Boosting an attendance of over 300 attendees, this key event brings together leaders within the sector to drive social change.

The category award “Using Technology to Connect to the Community” was sponsored by Microsoft, a major Connecting Up donor of technology themselves. Calxa CEO, Mick Devine, says “It’s fantastic to be recognised by Microsoft with this award. It’s an inspiration to our whole team.”.

The Townsville based technology company, was not only recognised for their generous donation program which recently reached $1million, but for their overall contribution to the third sector. Their MYOB Add-On software enables many grassroots community organisations and their Boards to make informed decisions. Calxa’s Masterclasses and Workshops around Australia and online share finance skills with grassroots organisation making them more viable and ensuring their sustainability.

“Naturally, we are thrilled to win this award but we don’t achieve what we do in isolation. We couldn’t do this without our partnership with Connecting Up that enables our donation program and our extensive partner network around Australia.”. Calxa has been partnering with Connecting Up since 2010 and is now working on the next donation challenge with an aim to reach $2million.
