Townsville software company, Calxa, celebrated its 10-year anniversary today. Whilst a milestone such as this would normally call for a get-together with their customers and partners at their Flinders Street offices, the current corona-virus restrictions limited the scale of the party. With the team working mostly from home, and abiding by strict social distancing rules, some staff tuned in remotely for the cake cutting and champagne toast.
Launching their pioneering management reporting tool on 1 July 2010, the app has won numerous awards for its innovation. Calxa CEO, Mick Devine stands proud saying, “When we started, our focus was to deliver quality cash flow forecast and budget reports. We wanted this experience to be a better option to error-prone spreadsheets. But we have evolved further and today, our cloud platform automates many tedious tasks and complex financial reporting, making finance teams more productive.”
The software company is in the process of infusing their application with artificial intelligence to deliver a granular cash flow forecasting tool for small businesses. The demand for their products is no longer limited to Australia and New Zealand but reaches globally with the United Kingdom and United States of America significant growth areas. Devine continues, “with Australia being at the forefront of cloud accounting, it opens opportunities for us worldwide.”
“We now have donation programs for not-for-profits in the UK besides here at home”, states Devine. Calxa has so far donated close to AU$2m to not-for-profits, fortifying the community sector with improved decision-making capability.
With their business pre-dominantly cloud based, the team has taken the current COVID-19 crisis in its stride and has even provided payment relief to their customers impacted by the economic downturn. Mick Devine adds, “Over the years we have learnt so much from living in a cyclone prone region. Having our team work remotely is easier for us than most organisations. And helping out is what we do in communities like Townsville.”
“With businesses impacted across the world, demand for cash flow scenario and forecasting apps like ours has skyrocketed. We are currently looking how we can grow our team to better handle the additional demand.“ The company is excited about its prospects for the future and is putting growth mechanisms in place to see them through the next 10-year anniversary.
