Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Townsville-based software company, Calxa, is striving for interpretive reporting that will help businesses better understand their financials without having to have an accounting background. Collaborating on the project with James Cook University (JCU) in Queensland’s north, Calxa is planning to translate financial statements into visual data with commentary that a small business layman can understand.
Having developed financial reporting software which has automated triggers to deliver reporting bundles to their customer’s inbox at a specified time, Calxa now has its sights firmly set on developing the next generation of intelligent technology.
Being a leader in technology means keeping the standards high and having a strong Research and Development (R&D) plan in place. “Having access to a top-notch graduate program at JCU is paramount to our future development,” says Calxa CEO, Mick Devine.
Going into this project on the back of being voted the top add-on by MYOB accounting partners late last year, Devine is confident in being able to deliver an innovative product, “We already do automation based on algorithmic assumptions to reduce the time it takes for busy CEOs and business owners to get their management reports.”
Taking their feature rich desktop product to the cloud has made accessing new technology and user-friendly designs a differentiator. The next step seems natural to Devine, “We will use a process of machine-learning to better interpret numbers, based not just on the individual’s business data but on the data of millions of other similar businesses. “
The Queensland company now has its sights set to pitching its products on a global stage.
